Lambach Bencés Apátság - vö. superexlibris "PAZL 1671": Placidus Hieber Abt zu Lambach monogramja. Könyvkötésként valószínűleg helyben, de biztosan német területen használták fel a 17. században, vö. torontói, azonos kódexből származó töredékpárjának őrzőkönyve: Gretser, Jakob: Rudimenta linguae graecae, Monachii – Apud Ioannem Iaecklinum, sumptibus Matthiae Piscatoris, 1659).

Physical condition of the fragment:

Medium thick, foxed parchment bifolium with holes, worn at the former spine, traces of water damage. Its margins and corners have been cut. Traces of folding are visible. Half of fol. 1 is vertically cut (significant loss of text).

From the library of the Benedictine monastery of Lambach (cf. ownership mark "P A Z L 1671", the monogram of Placidus Abt zu Lambach).The manuscript's place of origin is unknown. It may have been re-used as a binding locally. It is certain that the original codex was dismembered in the German lands during the 17th century since another leaf from it also marked with the monogram of Abbot Placidus Hieber of Lambach can be found on a host book printed in Munich (Gretser, Jakob: Rudimenta linguae graecae, Monachii – Apud Ioannem Iaecklinum, sumptibus Matthiae Piscatoris, 1659) and preserved today in Toronto.

The history of the Fragment:

It came to the library from Elemér Varjú's collection according to entry no. 12 from 1899 in the NSZL Manuscript Collection Accession Register (19 April 1899): "ex coll. E. Varjú" (part of a 114 leaf paleographical collection).
